# Linkerd-viz: FailedDiscoveryCheck

We’re running Linkerd Viz 2024.8.3, and the “[v1alpha1.tap.linkerd.io](http://v1alpha1.tap.linkerd.io)” ApiService is continuously spitting out the following errors:

_“FailedDiscoveryCheck: failing or missing response from [https://10.x.x.x:8089/apis/tap.linkerd.io/v1alpha1:](https://10.x.x.x:8089/apis/tap.linkerd.io/v1alpha1:) Get “[https://10.x.x.x:8089/apis/tap.linkerd.io/v1alpha1](https://10.x.x.x:8089/apis/tap.linkerd.io/v1alpha1)”: remote error: tls: unknown certificate authority”_

Does anyone know why this could be happening, and how we might be able to fix this?

1.Verify the TLS Certificate configuration.  
2.Verify the tap service configuration and check tap service using valid TLS certificates.  
3.Regenerate the certificates
